Ailie im Wunderland 2 - 8. Kapitel

The summer is almost over: it is hot on the day, but it is pretty cool at night. I've spent too much time playing boardgames at night with the dorm buddies, so now I've got to be hardworking again (don't you know that I am indeed a hardworking person???).

A month ago I went to Berlin visiting a friend. So here comes the virtual tour...

.
I have to introduce the hosting family first: The mama and papa Alix and Ludwig, the lovely guys Emma and Milo (the name reminds me about the favourite Cocao drink), and the Oma Glenys
Alexanderplatz
Two landmarks of Alex: The TV tower and the world clock Don't you think it looks like somekindof setting in Sci-fi movies in the 70's?

The graffiti next to Alex
Street scenery Berlin
The re-packaged ex-communist architecture They refurbrish all the pale old blocks in the East end, or if they cannot afford it, just repaint them...
Graffiti is a typical scenery in Germany I met this Gelato-wagon and start missing the soft-cream wagon in Hong Kong.
This is a cafe with nice atmosphere.. And the cafe with tribue to Derek Jarman (I think so...)
The newly re-opened Friedrichstadt Palais Theatre What's in: Waterpipes
Some must-sees
Brandenburger Tor Bear is the mascot of Berlin, so that you can bump into any kind of 'bear' like this
Next to the Brandenburger Tor there has a new 'Ring of Bears', featuring over 100 bears, each 'dressed' by a foreign artist.
Postdam and Castle Sanssoucci
The day we went to Postdam was a pretty fine day.. The Dutch quarter in Postdam
You will wonder how such a scene survived the anti-imperialism communist ruling in the past 30 years... The new palace in Sanssoucci

What's About: The hosting family is indeed the kins Stuart, my buddy in Hong Kong. The whole family moves to Berlin (an odyessy indeed) and starts a brand new life there, and I took the advantage as a 'Kinder Surprise': visiting friends, re-visiting Berlin, and find a story to write for COSMOgirl!

My first visit to Berlin was in 2000. I stayed a November night there, and it was a really bad timing as day was short, and I was sooooo scared to get around when it went dark... but this time the city looks more colourful and bright. The pale buildings are disappearing; and there has more things to be explored.
